World Meditation Day

Meditators in all parts of the world are invited to begin your morning meditation at 8:00 AM local time* on Sunday, 21 December 2025. As the globe turns, hour by hour, time zone by time zone, each of us will start our morning meditation at 8:00 AM. And, later the same day, each of us will start our evening meditation at 5:00 PM local time.

* The following countries will have 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM as their starting times: Central Australian time zones, Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, Afghanistan, Iran. Nepal will start at 8:45 am and 5:45 pm.

This first global meditation will begin in New Zealand at 8:00 AM. An hour later, in the next time zone to the west, others will begin their morning medtation, and so on around the world. Then, at 5:00 PM, the world’s meditators will follow the same procedure in beginning their afternoon meditations. By including both morning and afternoon meditations on 21 December and moving westwards hour by hour with the sun, World Meditation Day will actually last for 33 hours, concluding after 5:00 PM in Hawaii.

Whatever your meditation practice, please join. Governments, spiritual leaders, practitioners of any meditation practice are invited to participate. In this simple way, a wave of harmony and positivity will circle our planet as together we all celebrate World Meditation Day.

The Importance of Meditation

World Meditation Day is dedicated to promoting health, mental well-being, and peace for the individual and community through the practice of meditation. This day brings attention to the profound impact meditation can have on reducing stress, enhancing focus, and fostering a sense of calm in our daily lives. By participating, individuals can experience the collective energy of a global community committed to the development of individual and collective consciousness.

This international celebration aims to raise awareness about the benefits of meditation, encouraging a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. Join us in this global event to nurture health and well-being in mind and body for people of every nation.

Dr. Tony Nader to Inaugurate World Meditation Day

Last year, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared December 21 as World Meditation Day — a day for humanity to pause together in peace. On that day, more than one million people across every continent closed their eyes in the silent unity of meditation. The collective stillness of those moments echoed across nations, and in its wake, new dialogues of peace and cooperation among nations began to emerge.

This year, as the world once again turns toward the solstice — the moment of deepest stillness in nature — we are called to create an even more powerful wave of coherence, harmony, and hope in world consciousness.

At the inaugural event in 2024, Tony Nader, MD, PhD, MARR, successor to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and global leader of the Transcendental Meditation® organization, gave the keynote address at the United Nations about meditation as humanity’s universal bridge — connecting heart to heart, mind to mind, across all boundaries — the most powerful, scientifically verified method for creating coherence in individual and collective consciousness — the consciousness-based technology that can finally achieve world peace.
Though this event is organized by the Transcendental Meditation® organization, World Meditation Day belongs to everyone.

Dr. Nader invites every meditator, in every tradition and system, to join together and again encircle the Earth in a living current of peace.

We welcome all meditation traditions, systems, faiths, and peace organizations to participate equally.

In our shared stillness, there are no boundaries — only the light of consciousness uniting us all.
